While it has been broadly assumed that patients prefer tele-MOUD to in-person treatment, there has been minimal research in this area. Researchers at RAND Corporation wanted to fill this gap in knowledge. With a grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse, RAND launched the first-ever study in 2021 to explore different aspects of the patient’s perspective comparing in-person to tele-MOUD treatment. As part of this study, RAND researchers conducted 20 interviews with Bicycle Health patients between March and May 2021.
